How to enable video crossfading with the Denon X500 or X900 mixer
To enable X-control for video crossfading with the Denon X500 or X900 mixer, you will need to do the following:

  • Connect the X-control cable between the mixer and DN-HC4500 (This needs to be a normal stereo 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack cable.)
  • Hold down the MEMO button on the the HC4500 to enter its built-in preset mode.
  • Turn the parameter knob to choose X-CONT XFD
  • Press the parameter knob to edit.
  • Turn the parameter knob to change it to On.
  • Press the parameter knob to save.
  • Press MEMO to exit HC4500 preset mode.

Controller freezing when used with Windows Vista
Unfortunately MIDI support in Vista itself has a bug which will cause the driver of a MIDI device to crash and stop responding if too many MIDI messages are transmitted in one go (E.g: Excessive scratching or spinning of the jogwheels.)
The best solution is to upgrade to Windows 7 which does not have this problem. Windows 7 will also give you considerably improved system performance over Vista, which is a very 'bloated' and resource-hungry Operating System.
Alternatively, assuming that you have the latest firmware installed, you can work around this problem by changing the frequency of MIDI commands that the jogwheel sends (ScratchJog Trans.)
The default is 3ms. For Vista users, the Jog Trans

Serato Dj

needs to be 10ms.
To change this value:
